Chaka Khan
Chaka who is also known as Queen of Funk as she is often referred to, was an American record producer. In the course of her career that spans more than fifty years she has received a total of 10 Grammys. The Grammy winner was also named as the 65th highest-performing dance artist of all time in the history of Billboard magazine. Her birthplace was in Chicago, Illinois and introduced to jazz at a young age by her grandmother. She began her career by performing with different bands. Later on, she became a member of a band called Rufus. The album she released was her debut as a member of the band at twenty-year mark. The group was awarded their first Grammy prize a year later. A few years later she was able to make her debut as an independent artist and the album was self-titled. Through the years she released other albums including "Echoes from an Era", "The Woman I Am" and one track called "Funk It". The singer is also well-known for her charitable work. Chaka Khan Foundation, which she founded to aid individuals and children with Autism along with families that are struggling. Khan is also actress on occasion. She played the role of Carrie in the musical. Carrie in the musical "Mama, I Want to Sing.'
